Primary
In the Primary Program, children’s educational journey takes on exciting new challenges with the introduction of language and math instruction. Our language activities cover speaking, writing and reading while our math activities begin with basic counting and soon progress into basic decimal system instruction. With our proven Montessori approach, children are thoroughly engaged as they learn and absorb new concepts.
Practical Life
A Montessori education places emphasis on practical life learning and we stay true to this by employing a variety of activities for children to practice this crucial part of their development. From measuring cooking products to tying shoes, children learn a great deal of real-world activities that help them experience and appreciate independence.
Sensory Activities
We continue children’s sensorial development through more complex exercises that refine and strengthen the senses and their ability to express their thoughts about them. These exercises are conducted with regular household products and are easy to perform at home.
Movement and Balance
Through increasingly challenging but age-appropriate physical activities, children continue to develop their gross and fine motor skills. The movements we practice vary and may include fun activities like hopping on one foot to practical life-oriented activities like putting on and removing gloves. Movement and balance are crucial to developing the whole child, which is a fundamental aspect of a Montessori program.
Language
With proven Montessori techniques to enhance children’s spoken language capabilities, we utilize poetry, stories, and music to enhance vocabulary, pronunciation, and familiarity with word structures. We then get children familiarized with the written word through sensory practice, including sandpaper letters, chalkboard writing, drawing and more. After combining instruction with the spoken and written word, we introduce children to reading through phonic instruction, phonograms and grammar games.
Mathematics
Through a variety of activities and learning materials, children form a solid foundation in the world of mathematics. Our activities help children understand counting and basic math problems through practical life exercises. In addition to developing math skills, these exercises also help develop children’s critical thinking and concentration skills.
Science/Social Studies
Children are naturally curious about the world and are eager to understand the world through the introduction of scientific concepts. Our Montessori program gives children the opportunity to learn the scientific method through hands-on activities that also teach collaboration critical thinking skills.
